Our story

John & Barbie met in June 1998 while working to support the same government agency at Dulles Airport. John liked to "hide out" at Barbie's desk. Barbie always called him for computer help & thought he was just being nice to her. One day when Barbie had taken a day off, John asked her to meet him for lunch at TGIFridays. Holding hands thru the entire meal (ok, maybe not but memories). And when he kissed her for the first time at the end of that lunch, she knew she wanted to marry him!

They quickly became inseparable. And two weeks later on Halloween, dressed as Major Nelson & Jeannie, Barbie proposed -- yes, she was drunk. But John said "yes, but you're not allowed to ask me again." So, she waited ever so patiently....by the end of December John had officially moved into Barbie's house with her. And on Valentine's Day 1999, while Barbie was doing chores, John made her sit down on the couch. Of course she was annoyed but relented....he got down on one knee & asked her to marry him. "You shit." Yep, that was her response -- he had gone ring shopping with a friend of theirs a couple of weeks before & said he hadn't found anything. "So, does that mean yes?" he asked her. "Yes, it does!"

Six months later in August they said "I do." The end....well not really, check out Barbie's Blog for more about their life together.

Jakob

Born in May 2002, Jakob has been the apple of our eyes from day one. He is a very quiet, reserved person with a kindness that makes us proud. He's a pretty good listener too. He loves video games and watching videos on YouTube. And he has a great sense of humor. His favorite comedian is Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias -- we've never heard him laugh more than when we all went to see Fluffy live. Jakob understands the value of working hard & getting a good nights sleep. He's currently attending Texas Tech with plans to study Computer Engineering.

We miss having him at home with us, but we are very excited to see him work towards his future and make new connections and friendships along the way.
